The first thing I did was walk to water and take a pic of a boat! Like I need more boats in my life!
Canals
More canals
Haha boat in a canal. OK I'll stop with the canals.
Tourist spot that I didn't go in to. Anna Frank house. All glass on the outside. Easy to find if you look for the insane line of tourist!
Stopped for a beer.
Saw a man that looked like Jesus or a duck dynasty dude it in a tiny car.
Discovered that bikes might actually rule the world here. At this round about it appeared as though bikes had the right of way and cars didn't get pissed!
Mom feared there would be no pics of me so I kinda took a selfies with the first windmill (probably a tacky tourist one) I saw in Amsterdam.
FEBO is a strange fast food chain..I think.
You buy hot food from a vending machine in the wall (I was gonna try this but you need exact change)
So I got this! A mystery food. Hoping its some sort of burger! And then wandered of to find a nice spot to eat it.
Surprise surprise it was by a canal but I found some friends!
Yay a burger! A chicken or chicken-esque burger. Yummy
Found a water fountain and kept wandering.
Walked through a park and did my good deed for the day. A lady had her two very young kids on her bike and was getting water but then the bike tipped and she couldn't save it all so she was trying to hold the bike without losing the kids but was having trouble. She looked at me and said help so I ran over and helped her lift the bike back up and gave her the water bottle. There were lots of Dutch thank you'd and then I continued wandering. They were cute kids.
Feet were getting tired again. I didn't really bring great walking shoes. So I stopped at the same pub and tried a different beer and some bitterballen. Its supposed to some sort of meatball.
It has some sort meat and filling.
Centraal station basically tourist central! When I got off the train in the morning I just kept trying to get further and further away from all the tourist.
Basically that's the normal part of the day. I'll do another blog with my strange pondering :)

ReplyDeleteHi Leann,
ReplyDeleteThe Otter windmmill was built around 1630 and is in restoration process. You can't go inside but you are able to walk right up to and around it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Otter,_Amsterdam

I really like your part of the city :) Wandering around that day was fun and it was in those parts of the city that felt like I could actually live there!
