All of that, needs to get in there. And I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Wish me luck!

Step 2: Packing light :s
Does packing light mean I don't pack a light?! :s
If I was even more outdoorsy I would have fewer things to buy but so far the shopping has been successful. I have a tiny light tent, a compact warm down sleeping bag and other random odds and ends. I even thought ahead and bought a waterproofing spray for the tent. Of course I'm celebrating my successes so far with some Heineken!
Now to practice shoving the tent and sleeping bag back in their bags.
I should also figure out how to add pictures.
Step 2a: Packing test runs.

Step 1...maybe!?
Well I gave myself until Wednesday to get my butt in gear and book a ticket to Amsterdam. It's Wednesday and....the flight is booked! At least according to the email I just received from the airline.
I'm not going to lie. My finger hovered over the book button before I pushed it. And I am nervous but it wouldn't be an adventure if I wasn't nervous :)
Holy crap I should start planning a little more :s
Step 2: Pack & pack light!

Introduction
I have no clue what I'm doing! OK, let me expand on that. I have no clue what I'm doing with respect to world travel....and blogging!
Have I traveled before? Sure. I don't live under a rock, I live on one! Newfoundland Canada to be exact. I travel the 700 km's between home (Corner Brook) and work (St. John's), every month and join a ship that takes me off the coast of Labrador, the Flemish Cap and Grand Banks, and the Gulf of St. Lawrence. I have been in the Arctic, the Pacific and the Atlantic. I've lived in cities (Toronto) and small little communities (McIvers). I've visited, if only briefly, every province in Canada except the Yukon.
So how am I a novice inexperienced traveler? Well all of that travel was for work or family or life. None of it has been 100% alone or 100% for pleasure.
Well I'd like to change that. The plan, if only in my head, is to bike around the Netherlands in September. Yup, this September! Clearly, I'm not a very discount traveller! No tickets have been booked, no hotels/b&b's/hostels have been reserved or bikes rented. I should probably get on that.
Step 1: don't chicken out! If there is a second post, I have succeeded at booking/renting/planning something.
Wish me luck!
